Check out our guide to move-out before you leave campus.

Preparing to Leave

Body

Residential Life is not responsible for any belongings left behind. Be sure to take everything with you!

  • Return all textbooks
  • Pick up mail and packages
  • Microfridges should be emptied, unplugged and drained, then left in rooms for pickup. Any other rented items must be removed from your room.
  • Check washers/dryers for laundry you may have forgotten.
  • Take your bike! Residential Life is not responsible for any bikes left on campus.

Cleaning and Preparing Your Room

Body

Be sure to leave your space the way you found it to avoid extra charges. Use your Room Condition Form in the housing portal as a reference.

  • Submit maintenance requests for normal wear and tear damage. We recommend placing these sooner than later, as maintenance requests will not be available during move out.
  • Reassemble beds
  • Make sure your space is clean and empty
  • Remove Trash/recycling
    • All trash should be taken to the dumpsters outside of your residence hall. To minimize foot traffic, trash rooms within residence halls will not be serviced regularly during move-out.
    • Donation barrels will be located in all residential halls, accepting food, clothing and household items in acceptable conditions.
    • Special bins are available from UVM Recycling
