Mahalia uses data science and spatial analysis to explore how climate change interacts with agriculture, land use, and human migration. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Brown University. Before joining UVM, she conducted ecological fieldwork in Arctic Alaska, worked on farms in California and Connecticut, and tutored high school students in math and science. In her free time she enjoys hiking, swimming, practicing Aikido, and playing the fiddle.
