Internships may be for credit or not, paid or unpaid, part-time or full-time, and can be built into your class schedule during the academic year or arranged during the summer. The Rubenstein School Internship Program awards academic credit for well-structured internship and research experiences. Internship opportunities exist in Vermont, throughout the United States, and internationally.

Getting Started
The Rubenstein Internship Program provides a formal structure for students pursuing career-related internships and research experiences. Interns are supervised and supported by professionals in the field, a faculty member, or a staff member.

Earning Credit
Internship credit needs to be arranged PRIOR to the start of an internship. Please follow the steps below:
- Start planning when you want to do an internship and where you hope to intern.
- Develop and submit application materials.
- Get an internship offer!
- Review these Rubenstein School Internship and Research Guidelines and decide what course you hope to take and when.
- Review this information on Academic Deliverables by Credit and decide how many credits you hope to earn.
- After reviewing the above documents AND connecting with the Rubenstein Experiential Learning Coordinator, please fill out this Experiential Learning Plan.

Funding for Internships
Rubenstein School Internship Fund: Provides funding to Rubenstein School students (priority given to first-year and sophomore students) pursuing unpaid or underpaid, credit-bearing internship and research experiences. More about the Rubenstein School Internship Fund.

Perennial Internship Program
The Perennial Internship Program is a competitive internship program offering 12-week, paid, credit-bearing internships that range from part-time to full-time. The program strives to provide valuable internship opportunities for Rubenstein School students and build relationships with environmental companies, organizations, and agencies working on critical issues.
