Mandel has extensive excavation experience on both prehistoric and historic sites in Alabama, Alaska, Georgia, Indiana, Maine, Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Vermont. In addition to his fieldwork resume, Mandel also is an experienced flintknapper, and uses his background in experimental archaeology to help interpret archaeological sites and artifact assemblages.
